“Retal” launches the international competition for mosque design… “Towards exemplary and sustainable mosques”

“Retal Competition for Mosque Design” was announced today; It is an international architectural competition to design two local mosques in “Nesaj Town 2 – Dammam” scheme, organized by “Retal Urban Development Company” and managed by the “Abdul Latif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture”, which is concerned with developing mosques in the Kingdom and the world in partnership with the American Institute of Architects (AIA). )», in cooperation with the Eastern Region Secretariat.

This competition was launched to motivate architects to enrich the urban environment with innovative designs that elevate the architecture of local mosques, and that the design takes into account the use of environmentally friendly materials as part of the design and taking into account the future maintenance and operating costs of the building.

As the Secretary-General and the supervisor of the competition Dr. Mashari Al-Naim stated that the goal of this competition is “to change the prevailing concepts, and to employ superior technologies to work on solving all the major social, environmental and economic problems of mosques.” Al-Naim indicated that “holding this type of competition generates new ideas and a cultural movement that ends with the development and change that we aspire to.”

for his part, Eng. Abdullah bin Faisal Al-Braikan indicated that “(Retal) aims to raise the quality of life in the residential neighborhood.” He added: “We are engaging the community and minds in designing the mosques of Retal neighborhoods through this competition to reach exemplary, modern and sustainable mosques. Where (Retal) works according to an ambitious vision to provide innovative solutions in the implementation of residential projects that suit the aspirations of its customers, which earned it the (best real estate developer award in the Kingdom) for two consecutive years 2019 -2020.”
